Nutanix .Next 2026 Chicago

Beginning April this year, I attended the Nutanix .Next event in Chicago (sorry for the late posting of this blogpost, as a one-men-company, I’m terrible busy at the moment). This is the annual global event where Nutanix is announcing all the cool new stuff which is coming. This is also one of the events where the Nutanix Technical Champions (NTC) will gather and share their stories and food (I always bring the stroopwafels). This year I had a session together with Angelo about the community. But before I continue what all happend first my personal “moment”. I received, for the second time, the “Community Excellence” award.

“Four outstanding leadership and lasting contributions that strengthen and inspire the Nutanix community”

Love it. Thanks Nutanix.

Then our (Angelo and me) session was. This year (again) it was in the large room. And it was more filled then last year. Pretty awesome. We talked about the community and what impact Nutanix Community Edition has to customers.

Look at those brothers in crime 😉

After the session we had a lot of question from the audience about Community Edition. If you want to learn more about CE then visit this page https://www.jeroentielen.nl/ce

What about those announcements Jeroen? Well here they are:

Nutanix announced a major optimization of its AHV hypervisor and Flow networking stack. Maximum Utilization & Performance, Strong Tenant & Workload Isolation, and Simplified Day-2 Operations. Early Access is available now, with General Availability targeted for Summer 2026.

The storage ecosystem story was one of the most visual moments of the entire keynote. Nutanix laid out five certified external storage integrations: Dell PowerFlex (GA), Everpure (GA), Dell PowerStore (Early Access), NetApp (Announced), and Lenovo ThinkSystem (Announced). This is the largest single expansion of the Nutanix storage partner ecosystem in company history, giving customers a dramatically wider range of certified array options to pair with NCP and AHV.

Nutanix introduced NKP Metal, a new offering that extends the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) to run directly on bare-metal servers with no hypervisor layer required. The platform supports VMs and Containers via a “One Experience” management layer, with integrated storage resilience and automated lifecycle management built in. Early Access is available now, with General Availability coming in Late 2026. The target workloads: AI training and inference, edge computing, and anything latency-sensitive.

One of my favorites (Blogpost coming soon):

Nutanix announced two VDI milestones on stage. First, Azure Virtual Desktop running directly on AHV is now in Preview. Second, a full AVD integration with Nerdio, which provides enterprise AVD lifecycle management,is coming in Summer 2026. Together, this gives organizations a hybrid VDI path that spans on-premises Nutanix infrastructure and Azure, managed through a single consistent experience.

Nutanix unveiled Service Provider Central, a set of capabilities targeting cloud service providers that need to run workloads for multiple customers on shared infrastructure. Three key features were highlighted: Controlled Resource Sharing, Secure Multi-Tenancy and an Enabling Service Catalog for Tenants. Early Access is available now, with GA in Summer 2026. This is particularly relevant for managed service providers migrating customers off VMware-based environments.
